Why this certification

Omni is a core delivery tool for both the Data and Strategy service lines. The Omni Platform Certification is a commercial requirement: Brainforge’s Omni partnership sends us leads, and having certified team members is part of the partner tier agreement — both platform- and Quickstart-certified people need to be on the roster for Omni to route implementation work to us.

Omni’s partner program defines two certification tracks:

The original partner announcement is in the Omni partner channel (Brainforge workspace). Delivery leadership surfaced the same context in #data-team (2025-11-11).

For Data Service, platform certification validates the ability to build and maintain semantic models, connect to data sources, integrate dbt, and design scalable analytics infrastructure.

For Strategy Service, it validates the ability to build client-facing dashboards, use AI-powered querying, and deliver self-service analytics to non-technical stakeholders.

Per-project requirements (enforced by Omni):

  • Any project with hands-on keyboard work → at least one Platform certified resource on the project
  • Any Quickstart or project with enablement/co-development → at least one Quickstart certified resource on the project

Coordinate with Brylle Girang and your engagement lead to confirm which track applies to your role before starting.


Step 1: Complete the training

There are two study paths — both are recommended. Work through them in parallel.

1a. Official Platform Training Guide (primary — exam-backed)

Resource: Omni Platform Training Guide — Official Omni partner training deck; the certification assessment is scoped to this material.

This is the primary source. Complete it in full before sitting the assessment. The certification overview walks through what the full cert process looks like end-to-end.

1b. LearnOmni.org (supplemental — hands-on depth)

Resource: LearnOmni.org — Free, open source, 62 lessons, 11 hours total.

Use this alongside the Training Guide for hands-on depth. Complete the chapters in the order below, following the priority guidance for your service line.

Estimated study time:

  • Data Service: ~9 hours (all chapters, priority depth on 2 and 7)
  • Strategy Service: ~8 hours (all chapters, priority depth on 3–6 and 8)

What to focus on by service line

Data Service: Depth areas are the semantic model (how Omni structures data for reuse), the dbt integration workflow, and advanced modeling patterns. Chapters 2 and 7 — slow down and practice hands-on.

Strategy Service: Depth areas are querying, dashboards, and AI features for non-technical users. Chapter 5 (AI features) and Chapter 6 (sharing/collaboration) directly map to client delivery. Chapter 8’s case studies are worth reading in full.


Step 2: Hands-on practice

Do not go into the assessment or record your demo without having built something in Omni. Before sitting the exam:

  • Connect a data source (use a sandbox or demo environment)
  • Build at least one topic with defined dimensions and measures
  • Create a dashboard with at least two chart types
  • For Data Service only: set up a dbt integration and validate model changes flowing through
  • For Strategy Service only: configure a shared dashboard with a filter for a non-technical user

Step 3: Complete the certification

Platform Certification has three parts. All three are required.

Part 1 — Certification assessment

Part 2 — Demo video recording

Build a working Omni implementation and record a demo video showcasing your work. This demonstrates hands-on platform proficiency beyond the written assessment. Specific recording requirements and submission instructions are in the Platform Training Guide and cert overview.

Part 3 — Omni team validation

Once both the assessment and demo are submitted, Omni reviews and grants certification. Upon passing you receive:

  • Omni Platform Certification credential
  • Public-facing Omni partner badge

After receiving your badge, notify Brylle Girang on #ai-learning so it can be logged in the partner roster.

The assessment tests depth of expertise and experience developing in Omni. Expect coverage across:

  • Data connection and semantic modeling
  • Querying, calculated fields, and data exploration
  • Visualization types, formatting, and dashboard design
  • AI-powered features and natural language querying
  • Embedded analytics and sharing configurations
  • Governance and access controls
  • dbt integration and advanced modeling (Data Service depth)
  • Real-world business use case application (Strategy Service depth)
