Interview Exercise (For Candidates)

Source: Notion – Interview Exercise (For Candidates)
Context: Data Analyst Case Study (example candidate-facing exercise)

Part 1

Attached is a month’s worth of sample delivery data (glossary linked below) for our New Verticals businesses (Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol and DashMart). This isn’t our complete dataset, but it’s comprehensive enough for you to make observations on our business. The task is to analyze the dataset and to provide a clear set of recommendations for our business. Please clearly state any assumptions you make throughout your analyses.

What we are assessing

Overall Deliverable

  • Assessment must be submitted as a slide deck (Google Slides format), using our provided template.
  • Candidates should download the template and create their own copy before working on it.
  • The deck should clearly present:
    • Key findings and results
    • Supporting analysis and insights
    • Clear structure and executive-ready storytelling
  • Visuals (charts, diagrams, tables) are encouraged where they strengthen the analysis.
  • An appendix is optional.

Deck template: Create a copy of this deck before starting your work.

Data Analysis

  • Your work should demonstrate that you successfully cleaned the data and used it to analyze our three-sided marketplace.
  • Include descriptive statistics/visualizations that support your recommendations.

Recommendations

  • Actionable and realistic recommendations, with a path to execution.
  • Scrappy ideas while also thinking long term and strategically.
  • Recommendations should align with the complexity of our New Verticals business, while taking into account the three-sided marketplace.

Files

  • Dataset and glossary are provided in Notion (see source page for current links). Candidates receive the exercise package when the Interview Task is sent.
